“Growing up, watching basketball and other sports was a household tradition. I never played, but knew early that I was fascinated with the game of basketball & developed a serious interest in the “business” of sports. Eventually, I’d like to take my talents to the National Basketball Players Association to facilitate dispute resolutions for athletes. My current goal is to build #HGRadio as a continued forum for journalists, athletes, writers, entertainers, business men/women, and fans to openly discuss all things basketball.”

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Kia was introduced to the arts and sports at an early age. Kia attended the prestigious LA County High School For The Arts, where she studied dance. She began her college journey at Howard University in Washington D.C. and received her Bachelor’s degree, Magna Cum Laude in Communications and Sociology. Kia combined her love for the arts and sports as a member of the Howard University Bisonettes, (a dance organization that performed at the Men’s and Women’s Basketball games). After graduating college, Kia worked in television/film production on a list of films and television series, including her staff role on the production team for Biography, a documentary formatted show on the A&E channel.

Kia’s long time interest in Behavioral Science led her to enroll in graduate school. She received her Master’s degree in Negotiation & Conflict Management. She’s a certified mediator, and dispute resolution professional. Kia continued to focus on the arts, performing in stage productions, and teaching ballet and modern dance to children. She is a talented choreographer known for the socially conscious messages present in her work, and served several years as Assistant Director for the City of Inglewood’s Summer Performing Arts program.

In 2010, Kia partnered with Michelle to form HoopGirlz Radio, a radio talk show dedicated to discussing/debating a range of basketball topics where she serves as a host and producer. Kia currently lives in Los Angeles.
